Budoucí Workshop Semenawa #0 plus: Basics and Beyond

The roots of traditional Japanese bondage go back over 100 years to Ito Seiu, the father of Kinbaku, who began tying, studying and publishing his work focusing on the beauty of suffering. He was followed by several generations of Japanese who developed the traditional style. Among them were Nureki Chimuo and his successor Naka Akira, whose Naka ryu, with its refined Japanese aesthetics and deep emotions, is currently one of the most popular and advanced styles of tying.

We present a modern interpretation of Naka ryu in the form of the Kinbaku LuXuria style, which respects the tradition and legacy of its predecessors, but has been adapted for Westerners, in particular with a greater emphasis on safety. This style was adapted from Naka ryu by Riccardo Wildties, deshi (disciple) of Naka Akira, together with his partner Red Sabbath.

Many people wrongly identify Semenawa with pain and torture, harsh positions and uncomfortable Takate Kote. At this workshop we will learn that with proper technique it is possible to tie and enjoy strenuous positions while keeping your partner safe.

We will begin by learning a low hands Gote (Takate Kote) that will provide enough structure for further tying, but also comfort and safety. We will then explore several floor ties, partial and full suspensions of the traditional Japanese style. We will pay attention to the progressive building of our sessions and the importance of surrendering in the ropes to go through the more difficult parts of the tying and dive deeper into the beauty in the suffering.

Follow-up of this workshop is Semenawa #1: Surrender on 27.2. – 1.3.2026.

About Sansei & Hyde

In her tying, Sansei focuses on the depth of human connection that only ropes can create. Her style is strongly influenced by Kinbaku LuXuria (taught by Riccardo Wildties and Red Sabbath) and inspired by the philosophy and aesthetics of Naka Ryu (Naka Akira sensei). Yet it was Peter Soptík who first introduced her to ropes in 2017, and with whom she later formed an iconic teaching duo.

Her tying, as well as her teaching, goes beyond classical patterns and aesthetics. She places great emphasis on a deeper understanding of this style of tying — the lived experience, the profound and often dark emotions, the philosophical concept of semenawa, and the practice of surrender within safe boundaries.

In her classes, she focuses on the education of not only riggers but also models — helping them with self-development and self-discovery, and with finding their own natural expression and safe limits. Her experience in both roles allows her to share a deeper insight and understanding with others.

Hyde came to Subspace to become a rigger. Soon, however, he met Sansei, and with her an entirely new world waiting on the other end of the rope—one he fully felt in love with.

Now he is learning in both sides, yet being tied has become nature to him.
At a time when more and more men allow themselves to let go of prejudice and feel the rope on their own bodies, he would like to do his part in normalizing men in ropes.
